Number of times absent multiplied by 0.17.  This number is subtracted from the total points awarded in all other areas.  This means that someone absent 1 time loses 0.17 points, whereas someone who is absent 10 times loses 1.7 points.

Attendance is 10 % of the power score.  It is calculated by taking 165 school days, subtracting reported absences and lateness and multiplying by 0.1 to make it part of the overall power score.  Thus a student with perfect attendance would have a full 16.5 points as part of his or her power score.

As per our rubric’s percentage of test scores, individual class grades, and absence and tardiness; each category was converted to a 100% scale and then multiplied by the weight of that category.  The students were given a 100% for perfect attendance and then penalized for each absence by 3% and for tardiness by 1% for each occurrence.

ATTENDANCE:

The total number of days absent, subtracted from the total school days in the year, and then plugged that number/percentage into the rubric. 

Students who do not attend the audition/portfolio review on the reserved dates will have the opportunity to call the school for a make- up audition/portfolio review within 1 week of the predetermined audition dates.  Students who do not provide an audition/portfolio will not receive credit from that portion of the ranking requirement.
