Dear Wagner Community,
Welcome back to our returning students and families. I would also like to extend a special welcome to the new students and their families that will be attending Wagner. You will find that you are attending a special school with infinite possibilities to excel academically and extra-circularly. I hope that all of you had an active and adventurous summer. While I believe it is important to relax and recharge during the summer months, I think it is equally important that you took time to put down the electronic devices and stop the binge-watching, so we can engage with one another and do things outside.
As we prepare for another exciting year at Wagner, I would also like to welcome the new staff that will be joining our community. I am particularly excited about announcing our new parent coordinator, Mrs. Zoraida Clemente. She is a seasoned parent coordinator and I look forward to her impact on our community. I’d also like to take a moment and thank Ms. Debbie Rabinowitz for her years of service to the Wagner community. I hope that Ms. Rabinowitz, and all the staff that have retired or are pursuing new opportunities, have a rewarding and satisfying future.
The new school year will present new challenges. Many of them have not been revealed. It is my expectation that we will all work hard together. We can collectively push our thinking, share in our understanding of each other, and take time to care for each other. I challenge everyone in the Wagner community to be better than they were the year before or the day before, even if it is only just 1% better. If we do this every day, you will be amazed at the progress we can make.
I look forward to the work we will do together and the journey we will take. Just like last year, you will find me at the front of the school, welcoming you every morning regardless of the weather. Please stop by and say hello.
Wishing you all the very best this school year,
David A. Cugini
