Three Staten Island girls’ soccer players landed on New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports/New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSCOGS/NYSSWA) All-State teams, the Advance has learned.

Two of the three honorees from the Island were named to Class AA teams, including Susan Wagner’s Lauren Persichetty and St. Joseph by-the-Sea’s Alexa Geloso.

Persichetty, a forward, was named to the fourth team after registering 22 goals and 21 assists during the regular season for the co-Staten Island PSAL division champions Falcons. The junior, who constantly produced scoring chances, also had five goals and four assists in four playoff games, including an appearance in the PSAL AA semifinals.

Geloso, a defender-turned-holding midfielder at mid-season, was named to the sixth team. The four-year varsity player, who possessed a booming kick, was exceptional in her own end and joined Sea’s offensive attack when the situation called for it. She recorded five assists for Sea while always doing all the little things that don’t always wind up on the stat sheet.

Notre Dame Academy’s Hana Fauci, meanwhile, is the lone Islander to earn a spot in the Class A division. The senior was named to the third team after recording 13 goals and nine assists while producing numerous other opportunities for the Gators. The forward played a pivotal role in the Gators’ rise to the CHSAA Archdiocesan championship and an appearance in the Catholic state semifinals.
