Susan Wagner freshmen capture PSAL track and field crown

Susan Wagner, backed by a number of strong individual performances, cruised to the PSAL freshman track and field title at the New Balance Armory on Sunday -- piling up 120 points, topping runner-up Stuyvesant (49 points).

John Vitucci claimed the individual 300m title, while Michael Rodriguez-King did the same in the 1600m.

Vitucci added a second place in the 55m, while Keith Connelly (1600m), Nicholas Garcia (600m), Myron Corpuz (shot put, weight throw), and Joshua Virata (pole vault) also tallied runner-up finishes.

The 4x800 relay team of Elvis Mwesigwa, Connelly, Garcia, and Gerardo Ruiz finished second, as did the 4x400 team (Rodriguez-King, James Pacello, Peyton Jones, Zander Mercado) and the 4x200 team (Gordon Guan, ALberic Gbaguidi, Jones, Mercado) finished third.

Ike Alaka (tripe jump) and Abbey Cherry (pole vault) added third place finishes.

In the sophomore circuit, Nadia Beck claimed the sophomore pole vault title, while the 4x200 team of Isaiah Cook, Yoseph Othman, Javier Reyes, and Tariq Abdalia took second place.

Camille Adams took second in the triple jump and Marco Altieri captured bronze in the weight throw.
