Susan Wagner 95, CSIM 63

Senior Kai Mercado (above) led a balanced attack with a career-high 19 points as the Falcons secured a spot in the PSAL A city playoffs with a PSAL-SIHSL victory over the visiting Dragons in Sea View.

The Falcons improved to 9-12 overall (5-9 PSAL, 3-6 SIHSL).

Mercado, who had three three-pointers, was joined in double digits by Dailen Whiten (17 points), Edon Prelvukaj (career-high 15 points), Justin Mason (14 points) and Bleron Lata (10 points, two treys).

Whiten also had a game-high 10 rebounds for SW.

Justin Besignano finished with a game-high 21 points for the Dragons, who also received offensive contributions from Joe Sheehan (12 points) and Dakota Chiu (10 points).

Mercado's 14 first-quarter points paved the way for a 31-point first quarter for the Falcons, who led by 13 points at quarter's end and intermission (53-40).

Mason's six points paced SW's 21-8 advantage in the third and it cruised the rest of the way.

In addition to honoring seniors Mercado, Prelvukaj, Murad Jabara, and Sardar Khan before the game, Wagner also acknowledged scorekeeper Larry Korytny for his 25 years of service to the its basketball program.
